Workshop, mis tegeles helide jälgimise, loomise ja organiseerimisega. Keskenduti helide kuulamisele, välilindistamisele, helide tekitamisele lihtsate objektidega, ühistele improvisatsioonidele. Materjalina kasutati Mooste loodust ja ümbruskonnas tühjalt seisvaid sovhoosiaegseid ehitisi. Workshop’i fookuses oli kuulamine: asjade, helide, muusika, ilma seoseta ümbritsevast maailmast. Õpiti “nägema” helisid, erinevate helide teostust ja struktuuri, olemust, olles tehniliselt lo-fi, kasutati helide tekitamiseks käepäraseid vahendeid. Workshop toimus minilaagri vormis, ühise katuse all elati ja söödi. Workshop kulmineerus ühise esinemisega Moostes ning presentatsiooniga Tartus.

Sissejuhatus eksperimentaalsesse muusikasse (helikunsti): ajalooline ülevaade erialast, näited hetke trendidest ning töödest ja helikunsti suhtest teiste kultuuride muusikasse.
Workshop'i tutvustus, lühike ülevaade komponeerimise põhimõtetest.

Vaatlus ümbruskonnas kuulamaks ja avastamaks reaalsuse pakutavaid akustilisi võimalusi, järgides kolme kategooriat: looduslikud helid, inimese tekitatud helid, instrumentide ehitamine.
A): Heli käitumise jälgimine – looduslike heliallikate valdkonna jälgimine ja analüüs – välilindistus (heli tekitajate otsimine ja lindistamine).

B): Looduslike elementide kasutamine helide tekitamiseks, arvestades diofoonia printsiipi; olemasolevate objektide ja struktuuride uurimine, mis võimaldavad helisid toota, kui inimene neid manipuleerib.

C): Looduslike ja inimese poolt valmistatud elementide (puu, metall, pillikeeled, kivid jne) korjamine, nendest lihtsate akustiliste instrumentide ehitamine.

Neljapäev, 27. okt
18:00 Workshop’i esitlus Tartus Loovkeskuse festivali klubis

Workshop’i juhendaja Giancarlo Toniutti (IT) on morfoloogia- ja antropoloogiauurija ning eksperimentaalsete elektroakustiliste heliteoste looja. Õppinud Veneetsia konservatooriumis 1982-1985 (elektroonilise muusika kursus). Sellest ajast alates tegev heliloojana. Välja andnud erinevat muusikat LP-l ja CD-l (epigènesi, Tahta Tarla, *KO/USK-) ning mitmeid esseid erinevatel teemadel, samuti loonud live-installatsioone ja pidanud loenguid erinevatel teemadel (alates muusikast ja akustikast, antropoloogia ja keeleteaduseni). Tegeleb heliakustikaga, eksperimentidega heliantropoloogias. Tema töö keskseks teemaks on heli fenomenide liigendamine helimorfoloogias.

SOUNDWORKSHOP FOR YOUTH

24-26. October, in Mooste, Estonia, workshop leader Giancarlo Toniutti (IT)

Workshop is based on observation, generation and organisation of sound. It deals with listening sounds, field-recordings, making sounds with everyday objects and simple instruments, group improvisations. Recording and playing spots are found on nearby nature and derelict buildings. The focus of the workshop is on listening: things, sounds, music, avoiding references to other media. It teaches how to “see” sounds, different structure and realisation of sounds, essence, gives tips for composing based on that. Being techically lo-fi, convinient materials to produce sounds will be used.
Two and half days long workshop is conducted in the form of a short camp - living under the same roof, eating the same food, shared process of creation and discussions will lead to creative synenergy.

Introduction to experimental music (sound art): a historical overview of the field, a review of samples from current trends and works and it's external relation to other culture's musical works. It is about the historical background and a model of electroacoustic practice (both listening experience and creation).
Introduction to the workshop itself and brief principles of composition.

Observation with the participants of the surrounding environment to listen and discover the acoustic (creative) possibilities offered by reality following three steps: natural sounds, man made sounds, creation of instruments.
A): observation of the behaviour of sound - research and analysis on the territory of natural sound sources - field recording (looking for sound sources and recording them).

13:00-14:00 Lunch

B): use of the natural elements to generate sound following the principles of diophony (friction and percussion), research of pre-existing objects or structures able to generate sound if articulated by man.

C): collection of natural and man-made elements (wood, metal, strings, stone etc.) with which to realize and build simple acoustic instruments.

Giancarlo Toniutti, born in Udine, Italy, 21.3.1963. Studied at Venice conservatory in 1982-1985 (electronic music course) with Alvise Vidolin. Researcher and composer since then. Published several musics on LP and CD (epigènesi, Tahta Tarla, *KO/USK-) and several essays on different subject (from music and acoustics to anthropology and linguistics), as well as live-installations and lectures. Dealing with sound acoustics, experiments in sound anthropology. The core of his work has to do with the articulation of sonic phenomena into sound morphologies.

Partner of the workshop NGO Loovkeskus (http://www.loovkeskus.ee) is an art education center for youth, offering daily educational program in the fields of art, dance and theatre and art-merging workshops. Sound workshop is a part of their annual young art festival.
